Dr Gerd Müller is the Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, a position he has held since 17 December 2013. From 2005 – 2013, he was the Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection and responsible, among other things, for international relations, development projects and world food affairs.

Dr. Müller is also the Designated Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

In 1994, he served as Member of the EU, Foreign Affairs and Defence Committees of the German Bundestag, spokesman of the group of parliamentarians from the CSU in the German Bundestag for foreign affairs, European policy and development policy and Member of the German Bundestag, representing the constituency of Oberallgäu/Kempten/Lindau. From 1989 to 1994, Dr. Müller served as a Member of the European Parliament, Parliamentary Secretary of the CDU/CSU group.

Born in Krumbach, Germany, Dr. Müller was the Deputy Head of the Office for Foreign Relations of the Hanns Seidel Foundation, and Policy officer at the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs.
Dr. Müller holds a Master's degree in Business Education, is married with two children, and resides in the town of Kempten/Durach, Bavaria.
