Dr. Souvanpheng Boupphanouvong has served as Minister to the Prime Minister’s Office in Lao People’s Democratic Republic (PDR) since 2016, and currently a Member of the National Green Growth Steering Committee, which was established in 2016 under the Chairmanship of the Deputy Prime Minister of Lao PDR. Prior to this position, she was a Chairperson of the Economics, Planning and Finance Committee and a Standing Member of the National Assembly from 2011 to 2016. She started her career as the Director of the Lao Cotton State Enterprise of the Lao Women’s Union in 1996, and later served for 16 years in the National Assembly. She holds a master degree in Political Economics and Political Studies from Vietnam. Dr. Souvanpheng has been one of the key champions on green growth policy and conservation throughout her career at the National Assembly and the Prime Minister’s Office.
