Victoria Kwakwa is the World Bank’s Vice President for East Asia Pacific. Previously she was the World Bank Country Director for Vietnam. Victoria joined the World Bank as a young professional in 1989. Her work at the World Bank has included a focus on economic policy issues across a range of countries in Africa and East Asia. Key areas of her work include competitiveness and growth issues, public expenditure management, fiscal decentralization and economic governance.
Ms. Kwakwa was a member of the core team for the 2000/2001 World Development Report on Poverty. She has worked in Washington as well as in field assignments in Nigeria, Rwanda and Vietnam.
Ms. Kwakwa holds a PhD in economics from Queens University in Canada.
